To be fair, there were still a couple of chicken fillets, about half a pound of mince and some Quorn pieces in the freezer. Usually our shopping costs anything from £60 t0 over £80, so for 2 grown-ups a toddler and a bottomless pit of a nearly-five-year-old, I don't think that was at all bad!<br /><br />Hubby has been finding it challenging finding instant food to eat, so I have made a batch of buns just about every day so people can dig in without thinking. <br /><br />Mostly I buy the value type of supermarket packets and to be honest I don't think anyone has noticed, or at least they haven't said anything :o) . I was just starting to be horrified at how much our food actully costs, so by way of an experiment I am going to try to do a minimalist shop every week from now on.<br /><br />We use cloth nappies, I use cloth sanitary towels, and Hubby only shaves about twice a week, so really the only expensive things should be laundry stuff. That's the theory anyway! LOL!<br /><br />So will anyone join me on my quest for tiny food bills? Would you like to know exactly what we have been eating? One surprising and welcome upside to this has been the lack of rubbish created. This week we struggled to fill one black bin bag. The one behind Sainsbury's. It's about half way down the car park. Hurrah! Now I can get rid of all those milk and juice cartons I have been hoarding for ever. Luckily Hubby hasn't chucked them all in the bin.
